  1. TheInverterStore.com Releases Two New Power Inverters

    May 13, 2012 by admin

Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 23, 2009

With an economy that is facing hard times, one of the most prominent issues before us is the energy crisis. TheInverterStore.com is a company solely devoted to energy efficient ways to save and use energy and they are announcing the addition of two new products to their list of quality offerings.

The first of the two products is a 300-watt pure sine power inverter. This product has a compact and lightweight design with a thermal fan and USB port. Only 3 lbs it is easily transportable and far lighter than other 300-watt inverters. This power inverter is perfect for powering small items such as; cell phones, mp3 players and handheld games. Some of its features include 300W continuous power, pure sine wave, thermal fan, dual AC receptacle, on/off switch, enclosed DC battery connections, convenient cigarette plug and alligator clips.

The second product is the new AIMS 1000-watt pure sine power inverter. With many of the same features as the 300-Watt pure sine wave inverter, the 1000-watt inverter differs mainly in that it is made for powering large electronics like pellet stoves, variable speed motors and small microwaves. This inverter combines a larger source of power with the clear current necessary for sensitive equipment.

For those that don’t know what a power inverter is, it is an electrical or electro-mechanical device that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), with the resulting AC transformed to the required voltage and frequency with the use of appropriate transformers, switching, and control circuits. In this way the user can harness a power source, such as a car battery, to plug in and run any electrical device. An inverter offers an almost endless source of portable power.

Beyond these two products TheInverterStore.com carries a variety of products and inverters from simple DC to AC inverters to solar powered car battery chargers, allowing a person to charge their car battery with nothing more then the power of the sun. With innovation and affordable prices TheInverterStore.com continues to keep themselves at the forefront of the inverter market.

  2. Announcing Release of http://www.Safer-Smoking.com: Beat the New Smoking Taxes and Bans Legally, Buy Electronic Cigarettes and Save Cash

    May 12, 2012 by admin

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) April 20, 2009

With a recession comes a need for additional taxation it seems. Well, it seems the target this time would be tobacco cigarette smokers. Traditional tobacco cigarettes, while posing a significant health risk, also come with a financial burden. With prices reaching as high as $ 7.00 for a pack of tobacco cigarettes in some parts of the United States, smoking is steadily creeping out of reach for the average person. The financial expense combined with the sometimes devastating health ramifications have lead some smokers to consider quitting smoking altogether. Well, there is a solution. We would like to present the Electronic Cigarette. With the launch of a brand new website http://www.Safer-Smoking.com what was once imagination is now a reality!

Quitting a recurring habit such as smoking is not an easy task. Once you have had a good relationship with tobacco, as they say “breaking up is hard to do”. Fortunately, smokers who already want to call it quits with nicotine cigarettes can find solution in an interesting new invention that are all the rage in Europe and Australia, called electronic cigarettes or E-Cigarette.

Electronic cigarette used to be just part of science fiction, but that is no longer the case. There is already a huge demand for it in the US, and smokers cannot seem to stop raving about it. The concept of e-cigarettes revolves around vaporizing nicotine solution, which is the key addictive ingredient that keeps smokers coming back to traditional tobacco cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are beginning to be deemed as the best alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette smoking since they are safer and healthier, and do not contain the 4000+ chemicals that traditional tobacco cigarettes contain. It may not completely get rid of smoking addiction, but no one can protest the fact that it is better than all traditional tobacco cigarettes on the market. They are also reusable and refillable, operating on cartridges that can contain various doses of nicotine. The cartridges are less expensive than traditional tobacco cigarettes and offer more variety as well. There are flavored cartridges such as cherry, vanilla, tobacco, chocolate and the like. There are also nicotine free cartridges available, allowing one go through the physical motions of smoking but not receive any chemicals, only water vapor. You are also able to refill the cartridges yourself, saving even more money.

E-cigarette emits a thin line of vapor. It is smoke-free, so you need not worry about people smoking restricted areas like before. Want to smoke in the bar? At the ballgame? Inside the movie theatre? It is all possible with the e-cigarette. The E-Cigarette also does not produce any heat or flame, therefore eliminating the possibility of one falling asleep with a traditional tobacco cigarette and causing a fire and possibly killing the user.

The electronic cigarette itself is a small tube with the circumference of a nicotine cigarette, although some are a bit longer. E-cigarette’s parts include a mouthpiece with chemical nicotine, propylene glycol and to top it all off, it can even have flavors like coffee and mint. Other parts include a cartridge and a tube. A built-in sensor detects the airflow from the smoker’s mouth and automatically triggers the micro switch to turn on the atomizer. As e-liquid is sprayed on to the air, the nicotine is vaporized. Just like the real thing, e-cigarette has an orange glow at its tip. It is also battery operated and you can refill the cartridge once you run out of e-liquid.

Are E-cigarettes the next stop smoking device? Although this has not been officially review, this might be the case. No one can deny that e-cigarettes can really be a catalyst to lower the cases of lung cancer and promote healthier lifestyles among people. They will allow the user to save money, control what is going in their bodies, and completely eliminate fires started by traditional tobacco cigarettes. E-cigarettes will only be the beginning of more products that are sensitive to the health needs of people.

  3. Press Release: Electronic Cigarette VS FDA

    May 12, 2012 by admin

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) May 4, 2009

Smoking Everywhere, Inc. filed a federal complaint today seeking an injunction against the FDA with respect to the FDA’s recent attempts to ban the import of Electronic Cigarettes. The company believes the use of inhaled nicotine in a form and purpose similar to traditional smoked tobacco cigarettes is outside of FDA’s jurisdiction under the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act. The Supreme Court of the United States determined in 2000 that the FDA lacked authority under the FDCA to regulate traditional tobacco cigarettes as a drug/medical device combination and it is Smoking Everywhere’s position that the same legal rationale should apply to its electronic cigarette product.

  4. Magnalight.com Adds Telescoping LED Lights to Portable Light Tower Product Range

    May 10, 2012 by admin

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 5, 2009

Larson Electronics Magnalight announced the addition of an industrial grade, telescoping LED light on a collapsible tripod. As a LED light, the WALTP-L2X4 addition represents the lightest weight and most portable member of a portable lighting tower family that encompasses 2000 Watt Metal Halide towers (WAL-C-2XM), 140 watt Class 1 Division 1 hazardous location metal halide wheeled towers (EPL-TP-2X70) and 4 headed, 500 watt quartz light, tripod mount lighting (WAL-QP-4X500-25).

“Generally, our customers need a substantial amount of light for working at night or illuminating fuel tanks, security checkpoints or event areas. Combined with our portable electrical distribution panels and hazardous area transformers, we can cover hundreds or thousands of square feet. But many of our customers are also looking for a lightweight, portable solution that can cover a few hundred square feet for shorter term work applications. The WALTP-L2X4 LED telescoping tripod light weighs less than 8 pounds and collapses to less than 3 feet. This LED light telescopes to 8 feet and can be plugged into to any ‘jump start” portable battery pack, vehicle cigarette plug or connected to any available car/tractor battery. Drawing just 2 amps, this LED light tower will run about 9 hours on any $ 50 ‘jump start’ battery pack you would find at the local Walmart or auto parts store. A typical car battery would run these tripod mount LED lights for 25 or more hours.”

Rob explained further, “Priced under $ 500, this is an affordable, durable telescoping LED light tower can be stored in any size vehicle, and easily set up at the temporary worksite or event area. While a 1000 watt metal halide light will cover more area, typically the light must placed a distance from the worksite, closer to a generator. This LED light tower can be placed right in the middle of the worksite or event, without concern for generator noise, fumes or high voltage wiring. Each light tower has its place. The telescoping LED light is ideal for the first responders on the job at a downed line, broken main or accident. It might take several hours for generator driven 1000W metal halide light towers to reach the scene. Meanwhile work can begin. For one or two man jobs, this worksite LED light tower is sufficient. We offer a range of LED light heads for this telescoping tripod mount, all the way up to 9600 lumens of light output, which can be configured in a spot or flood pattern, depending on the application.????

Rob explained, “Larson Electronics LLC has been manufacturing lights for the utility, industrial and military markets since 1967. We started selling LED lights in 2005 and we continue to build on our experience in vehicle mount LED lighting, LED boat lights, military spotlights, handheld explosion proof LED lights and magnetic mount LED lights. Now we are equipping our explosion proof lights with LED bulbs and our portable light towers with LED light fixtures. We have a deep utility, military and industrial customer base and we integrate new technology, like LED bulbs and fixtures into our existing product lines to meet new needs of those customers.”

Rob continued, “All organizations need to carefully consider their choice of vendors. Companies like Cyberlux (CYBLE) for example, are relatively new to the lighting business and while they have jumped on the LED bandwagon, customers need to consider whether Cyberlux will survive to support them long term. Cyberlux is more than 150 days past due on $ 15,465.52 for components that they purchased from Larson Electronics’ Magnalight.com and resold to US National Guard. The Seattle Times reported that Cyberlux has the resources to chase earmarks and host fundraising dinners for Senator Elizabeth Dole and Representative David Price, but our recent attempts to get paid resulted in a Cyberlux response of, ‘Please do not deposit any checks as they will be returned for insufficient funds.’ There are a lot of new developments in the LED marketplace and organizations need to work with lighting providers that understand their needs and will support them in the future as the technology continues to change. Larson Electronics Magnalight has been doing that for the last 40 years and will continue to do so into the future.”

  5. FPED Chosen for the Release of SpotterRF: The Micro Digital Radar Revolution for Force Protection

    May 7, 2012 by admin

Lindon, UT (PRWEB) May 12, 2009

FPED (Force Protection Equipment Demonstration) is the site for the unveiling of the SpotterRF – the world’s lightest and most compact tracking radar for small military units, border patrol and individual warfighters. Every day our national security is in danger and our warfighters across the world are under constant threat and vulnerable to acts of terrorism especially at night and in poor weather conditions. In the past, these small units have used an array of IR cameras and night vision goggles to “own the night.” However, these camera technologies are limited by poor weather conditions, range and resolution. Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) are also used but require putting warfighters in harm’s way due to extensive perimeter setup time-which can take up to an hour to secure a large area. For example, it takes 84 UGS to secure a 663,000 square meter area, but only one SpotterRF to secure the same area. Additionally, if the unit has to move in a hurry, these UGS are then lost.

Large military units have solved this problem using Ground Surveillance Radars (GSR) that provide force protection during poor weather conditions. However, conventional GSRs are heavy (~100 lbs), expensive, require in-depth training and constant maintenance. Because of these issues, wide scale deployment of radar for small unit operations has not yet happened.

The SpotterRF Micro Digital Radar has changed all of that.????

The SpotterRF is the first of a new class of radar called Micro Digital Radar (MDR) that is bringing radar from the age of the mainframe into the age of personal computers because of its small size, low cost, ease of use and reliability.

MDR is an ideal force protection sensor for small unit operations because it can detect and track people on foot up to 1000 meters away at night, during the day, through fog and in all types of weather giving warfighters unparalleled situational awareness in the “War on Terror” while only weighing 3 pounds. The SpotterRF can also track vehicles up to 1500 meters. The SpotterRF is so simple and easy to use that training can be done in 15 minutes in the field and requires only a web browser and Google Earth. Gathering threat information and avoiding vulnerability has never been more convenient.

The 3 lb. SpotterRF can be quickly mounted to the top of a vehicle with magnetic mounts, powered by the cigarette lighter and communicates with a laptop over Ethernet. Within minutes a vehicle becomes a mobile tracking radar command center giving the user the ability to know what is coming long before the hostiles have any idea that they are being monitored. This provides the warfighters the needed time to prepare before coming under fire.

“The SpotterRF is about providing 24/7, all weather perimeter security for our warfighters who deserve and demand the best technology that is available,” stated Logan Harris, CTO of ImSAR.

SpotterRF’s unique small size, light weight, and low power consumption make it ideal for small unit area defense, facility surveillance, border surveillance, route security, perimeter security and clandestine deterrence applications.

Just as the use of computers was transformed from a few highly trained technicians using mainframes to millions of individuals MDR is making radar accessible to a whole new group of people. For the warfighter this means that instead of just a few commanders having access to tracking radar, all warfighters can have real time all-weather situational awareness provided by Micro Digital Radar.

Initial units will be available for purchase at the end of May, 2009. The SpotterRF will be released at FPED (Department of Defense Force Protection Equipment Demonstration – http://www.fped7.org) on May 19th through the 21st at Stafford, VA. The SpotterRF is collaborating with Ultra Electronics (http://www.ultra-ussi.com), the inventors of the Hyperspike audio beam, to demonstrate dismount detection and perimeter deterrence at FPED. Come and visit booth 9A at FPED to see a live demonstration.

To schedule a private demonstration of how this revolutionary new technology can significantly enhance your force protection systems visit spotterrf.com/forceprotection.

  6. Smokers are Going Green by Switching to Green Smoke Electronic Cigarette

    May 6, 2012 by admin

Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 25, 2009

Americans are becoming increasingly health conscious. They’re also more aware than ever of the vital need to do everything they can to be more green — that is, earth friendly.

One group, especially, has a big stake in this shift of behavior: smokers. The American Cancer Society reports that 46 million American adults smoke cigarettes. That’s nearly one in four people. Moreover, a whopping 440,000 Americans die each year from tobacco use. Even the most confirmed tobacco smokers know that it isn’t healthy, but what alternative do they have?

Green Smoke. This electronic cigarette is the best to hit the market during the past year, and it helps smokers leave behind nearly everything that is unhealthy, distasteful and even downright nasty about their habit. While the Green Smoke electronic cigarette offers the same nicotine buzz as tobacco cigarettes, they don’t have carcinogens, tar, carbon monoxide or the dozens of other toxins that are unhealthy for smokers.

So, how is this possible? Green Smoke has made it easy. The Green Smoke electronic cigarette consists of two simple parts: a cartridge and a battery unit. The cartridge looks just like the filter on a tobacco cigarette, while the battery is a dead ringer for the white tobacco end of a regular cigarette. Just screw together these two and puff. This activates the heating element, and smokers inhale water steam with nicotine and flavor. Each cartridge is the comparable to a pack of tobacco cigarettes.

They offer an assortment of flavors, from the traditional tobacco and menthol to coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Green Smoke cartridge nicotine levels range from 16 mg, comparable to an unfiltered tobacco cigarette, to 8mg comparable to a ‘Marlboro Red’, to 6mg ‘Lite’, 4mg ‘Ultralight’, and even 0mg cartridges which maintain the flavor but contains no nicotine at all.

So what’s so green about it? Green Smokers don’t harm the environment. The Green Smoke electronic cigarette produces smoke-like vapor- as opposed to cigarette smoke which contains a number of chemicals which impact the atmosphere. In addition, each cartridge is comparable to 20 cigarettes. That’s 19 fewer cigarette butts per pack. Combine that with a rechargeable battery – you get less waste.

That missing cigarette smoke also means that hair, clothing and even breath is no longer a problem for Green Smokers. And dirty ashtrays or cans along with unsightly butts are things of the past for people who have made the switch from tobacco cigarettes to Green Smoke e-cigarettes.

Sounds just like the right product for a world more health conscious and earth friendly. However, the Food and Drug Administration apparently doesn’t agree. It seems poised to ban this safer alternative to tobacco cigarettes by blocking imports e-cigarette. The FDA claims that e-cigarettes need drug studies even though the U.S. Supreme Court in 2000 ruled that the agency cannot regulate tobacco cigarettes.

Green Smokers widely claim that benefits far outweigh any risks.

“Cigarettes and tobacco kill people. Green Smoke does not contain one carcinogen. They’re certainly safer than tobacco cigarettes,” says a Green Smoker from Michigan. “I have been Green Smoking e-cigarette for only one month and I already feel the difference in my breathing.”

Green Smoke remains readily available to the increasing demand by tobacco smokers for a reasonable alternative — especially as state after state enacts bans on smoking in public places.

    May 5, 2012 by admin

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 10, 2009

As part of a continuous effort to enhance its brand storytelling capabilities, MRM Worldwide has hired big-agency veteran Cheryl Van Ooyen in the New York office as Vice President, Group Creative Director, effective immediately.

Van Ooyen has won many industry awards (Cannes Lions, One Show, Clios, Addys) for her creative work on brands such as Snapple, Ikea, and Visa.

At MRM Worldwide, she is helping to develop marketing strategies and measurable brand experiences for the shop’s clients, which include Betty Crocker, Bertolli, MasterCard, Intel, and Diageo brands Crown Royal and Captain Morgan.

“Cheryl’s talent is self-evident,” said Michael Jacobs, EVP, Executive Creative Director of MRM in New York. “Having her here gives us another important level of creative leadership. We’re all excited about what she brings to the table.”

For the past three years, Van Ooyen has been and continues to be a contributor (content creation, writing, producing and directing) to MTV Networks/VH1 and NBC Universal. At the former, she created mobile and online series including, Celebhead, the most streamed show on any MTV network, and wrote, directed and produced a full-length pilot for VH1 entitled Star Stories – an adaptation of an award-winning British comedy. At NBC Universal, she created and wrote a half-hour comedy pilot called The Two Hottest Girls from Wisconsin.

In the advertising industry, Van Ooyen has held various senior creative roles at agencies such as, Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners, Deutsch and BBDO.

At the New York office of Deutsch from 1997 to 2003, her work on Snapple’s “Little Fruit” campaign depicted fruit in offbeat, but humanized situations — “bad fruit” loitered on the street and smoked cigarettes and was therefore unacceptable for Snapple to use because as the tagline declared, “The best stuff is in here.”

Van Ooyen, who was SVP, Group Creative Director by the time she left Deutsch in 2003, was also a key leader in redefining the brand strategy and image of Swedish furniture chain Ikea, whose “Live better” campaign included TV spots in which Ikea furniture added some panache to recreated sets from The Brady Bunch and Gilligan’s Island, carrying the theme line, “If Ikea can update this classic, imagine the possibilities for your home.” She supervised the creative campaigns which included print, radio, online, and in-store and directed several of the commercials.

A guerilla campaign for Ikea had her creative teams placing the retailers’ chairs, sofas and cushions in public places such as bus stops and subways as a way to make them more comfortable and get people to directly experience the products.

“Joining MRM right now was an easy decision — and a great creative opportunity. They are completely committed to taking brands to the next level in the digital space. And using my experience to create content that’s relevant for those brands makes it a perfect fit.” Van Ooyen said of her position at MRM Worldwide.

In 2003, she joined BBDO Worldwide in New York as a Creative Director on the Visa account, supervising agency teams that worked on all of Visa’s platforms and partnerships including, the NFL, the Olympics, Disney, and all brand cards. Van Ooyen also worked on the Long John Silver and Pepsi accounts.

Early in her career, she was an Associate Creative Director at Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners in New York and a senior writer at Elgyn-Syferd in Seattle.

Van Ooyen is the most recent of several upgrades that MRM Worldwide has made to its creative staff in New York.

In November, Sune Kaae transferred to New York from the network’s London office to become Technical Architect & Discipline Lead for Web Development. In that role, Kaae leads analysis, design and implementation of technical solutions.

In December, Ali Grayeli joined as a Vice President, Group Creative Director working on the Intel account. His agency experience extends to Organic, BBDO, Agency.com, Blast Radius, Crispin, Porter & Bogusky and Deutsch, and he has worked on campaigns for Electronic Arts, Nintendo, Microsoft, Nike and Sony.

In January, the New York agency recruited three creative directors based in Israel whose work has appeared across Europe (Farid Chaouki, Roy Eventov, and Raanan Gabriel) to form MRM Design, a digital branding practice. All three men are fluent in state-of-the-art creative tools and constantly refine their use of these tools in their design methodologies.

“We don’t stick to the safe path in digital branding,” said Chaouki. “We like to use the best technology tools and programmers for our designs to create unique solutions for clients.”

    May 4, 2012 by admin

Haines City, FL (PRWEB) June 20, 2009

There has been much media coverage about the regulation of cigarettes; however an exciting new product has come to the market which will revolutionize the smoking habit of millions of people?. E-Lites Electronic Cigarettes.

Now you will be able to enjoy your ‘cigarette’ without the fear of smoking carcinogens, tobacco or tar. This is what smokers have been waiting for, a product that will enable them to get the nicotine kick they crave without all the ‘nasty stuff’ they don’t need.

E-Lites Electronic Cigarettes are made-up of a battery, a nicotine cartridge and a heating element that look and feel just like the real thing. The ‘smoker’ exhales vapor which resembles smoke but is in fact a completely harmless mist, produced by the ‘atomizer’ which heats the liquid inside the filter.

No more dirty ashtrays or harmful passive smoke

    18th June, 2009

The psychological and physiological experience achieved by smoking E-Lites Electronic Cigarettes is second to none, and the tobacco flavor is the ‘Most Authentic’ currently available. One unique feature of the E-Lites E-Pro is that the pack actually recharges your battery on the move, meaning you never run out of power whilst away from home.

This wonderful invention is gradually sweeping the World, fuelled by all the hype about the health issues and expense of harmful tobacco products.

The E-Lites Brand, designed and created in the United Kingdom, now available in the USA utilizes the latest 2009 atomizing and battery technology available to compliment E-Lites clear market distinction as a premium product.

Apart from the healthier option, E-Lites are much cheaper than tobacco products. For instance once you have the kit, refill filters work out to be approximately 70% cheaper than tobacco products! Filters are available in Regular / Light & Menthol, as well as ‘Zero Nicotine’ for those wanting to quit nicotine entirely, but still find the habit of holding a cigarette too difficult to let go.

There is an entry level Electronic Cigarette for the budget conscious consumer coming soon, and a specialist ‘Smoking Cessation’ pack will also be available in time for Christmas 2009.

E-Lites are available with a green light to clearly differentiate them from tobacco cigarettes in a restaurant, bar, club etc and a red light for use in unrestricted locations.

Larger companies with many staff can benefit greatly by allowing the use of electronic cigarettes at work, as ‘smoking’ Electronic Cigarettes means no more leaving the office desk to ‘have a quick puff’. Management are now allowing these ‘cigarettes’ to be ‘smoked’ right at their desk and have noticed that staff are able to concentrate and work better as a result of being able to satisfy the nicotine craving whilst they work, as well as working more hours and bringing equality of break-times back into the work place.

  9. Magnalight.com Offers Class 1 Flashing LED Beacon Hazard Light With 28 Simulated Flash Patterns at 360 Degrees

    May 3, 2012 by admin

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 23, 2009

The newest addition to the Magnalight.com lineup of LED lights is the CL1B LED flashing beacon, which is a SAE Class 1 rated beacon, indicating that it creates the maximum visibility appropriate for emergency vehicles, first responder applications, airfield site construction, etc. Available in amber, red, blue, green and white, the CL1B measures 4.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches in diameter and offers simulated LED patterns ranging from traditional quad flash strobes to old school rotator light functionality. More importantly, the operator can control the light output, restricting it to 360 degree strobe light functionality or upward flashing projection only.

“This is a true 360 degree flashing hazard beacon light,” said Rob Bresnahan, with Larson Electronics. “The configuration of LED’s within this beacon enables projection all the way around the beacon as well as straight upwards. Particularly, in the green Led color, this flashing beacon has become popular with airfield operations, both for airport type construction and for military air bases, where identifying vehicles and building placement is important for aircraft landing and taking off. The magnetic mount version features a strong magnetic based encapsulated in a rubber suction cup mount, which enables the operator to take advantage of the 200 pound grip magnetic base without incurring damage to the vehicle’s surface. Moreover, the unique cigarette plug has a push button, which enables the operator to cycle forward and backward through the 28 flashing patterns. The permanent mount version offers the same functionality through a simple wiring pigtail.”

Rob continued, “We have a seen a wide variety of applications for the CL1B from road side construction to airport construction. A lot of units with green and red LED’s are attached to crane booms and other elevated equipment in and around air fields. Now that the warmer weather is here, tug boat and barge operators are using them to identify large, slow moving vessels in waterways. Some of these vessels are massive and at night, small boat operators don’t see the outline of the vessel and drive right into them. The low voltage LED’s draw minimal current, so a simple step down transformer can be used to power them from 120 volts or they can be tied to 12 Volt or 24 Volt alternator charged battery systems. These strobes and beacons are large and vastly brighter than the typical USCG certified red and green running lights you see on many vessels. They are large and powerful and create a true 360 degree visibility. Most beacons do not have LED mounted facing upwards, so the light cast from the side facing LED’s is muted from the air. However, the CL1B and CL1B-M are specifically designed to cast as much flashing hazard light upwards as they do around.

Larson Electronics Magnalight has an extensive range of industrial and military grade LED lighting, including LED strobe lights, LED boat lights and intrinsically safe LED lighting for hazardous location areas. You can learn more about Larson Electronics LLC at magnalight.com or by calling 1-800-369-6671.

  10. The Battle Over Electronic Cigarettes

The electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is a unique product that uses a lithium ion battery and a small heating element called an atomizer to vaporize a solution into vapor that can be inhaled and exhaled much like traditional smoke. The difference? There is no combustion, just vaporization. This eliminates the tar to the user and the second hand smoke normally associated with cigarettes.

The opponents of the technology have cited various reasons as to why the electronic cigarette should be banned. The most common arguments include; they may be marketed to children and that they haven’t been proven as a safe and effective smoking cessation device by the FDA.

James Watt, President of Instead Electronic Cigarettes, addressed these concerns by saying “Although some unscrupulous suppliers may not be verifying age before selling the product, the vast majority are only selling to those of legal smoking age. To ban a product because of a few bad apples is not sound policy. “

And when asked about the safety and effectiveness of the electronic cigarette as a smoking cessation device, Mr. Watt responded by saying, “For those who want to claim it is a smoking cessation device, then they should do the testing. I believe smokers should have the right to choose an alternative to smoking that doesn’t contain the 4,000+ chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Quit or die is a flawed philosophy”

And what is in the solution that the e-cigarette vaporizes? The most common ingredients include Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Water, Flavoring, and optionally – nicotine. The solution, or “ELiquid”, comes in various levels of nicotine or no nicotine at all.

Earlier this year, Instead LLC helped found the Electronic Cigarette Association who’s mission is “to institute and promote industry-wide standards and a code of conduct, work to maintain sound professional practices, educate the public and policy-makers on the industry’s activities and potential, and ensure the ethical use of electronic cigarette technologies.”

“The ECA will help the industry in many ways, including to battle misinformation being disseminated by those with a vested interested in competing industries, such as pharmaceuticals.” says James Watt, the ECA Vice Chairperson. The requirements of suppliers hoping to join the ECA include agreeing not to make unproven claims and to only sell electronic cigarettes to those of legal smoking age.

Users of the technology have been voicing their opinions about the electronic cigarette and concerns over talk of a ban, via an online petition that was started on March 15, 2009 and to date includes over 10,000 names.
